NHS England Recommends Apollo Lancets for National Prescribing

We are delighted to announce that Apollo Twist Cap Lancets and our full range of Apollo Safety Lancets have been officially recommended by NHS England for prescribing to patients across the country.


Following NHS England’s second national assessment of blood glucose meters, test strips, and lancets, published in June 2025, Apollo Medical Technologies’ lancets have been recognised for their quality, reliability, and value for money. These commissioning recommendations were made after a comprehensive, clinically-led review designed to improve equity of access, ensure high product standards, and support better value across the NHS.


Included in Category 4a & 4b: Prescribing-Approved Lancets

Apollo’s products are now listed under both:

  • Category 4a: Lancets used with compatible lancing devices

  • Category 4b: Standalone safety lancets for settings where a lancing device isn’t used


Specifically recommended Apollo products include:

  • Apollo Twist Cap Lancets (available in both 28G and 30G)

  • Apollo BV Safety Lancets (26G, 28G, 30G)

  • Apollo Pressure-Activated Safety Lancets

  • Apollo Tri-Plus Adjustable Depth Safety Lancets


These products were evaluated against stringent criteria including safety, ease of use, patient comfort, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness.

With the NHS spending over £107.9 million on blood glucose testing consumables last year alone, this assessment ensures Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) can make clinically sound, value-based decisions. The inclusion of Apollo lancets means:
